Filteration Plant

The Central Shoshone County Water District (CSCWD) filtration plant utilizes a membrane filtration system to treat the district's primary drinking water source, the Enaville Well. Built to combat potential microbial and chemical risks, this highly efficient treatment facility ensures the water is filtered and disinfected to meet strict state health standards.

How the Treatment Process Works

  • Source Water: The water is drawn from the Enaville Well, which is a groundwater source with some surface water influence.

  • Membrane Filtration: The heart of the plant is its advanced membrane filtration system. This physical barrier acts like a microscopic sieve, capturing and removing minute particles, microorganisms, and impurities.

  • Disinfection: Following filtration, the water undergoes disinfection—typically using chlorine—to eliminate any remaining bacteria or pathogens, ensuring the water is safe as it travels through the distribution system to homes and businesses from Enaville to the east end of Osburn.

Plant Upgrades & Monitoring

Because the Enaville Well was identified by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ) as having potential vulnerabilities to contamination, the CSCWD upgraded the plant by building the membrane facility.

The plant's treated water and performance are monitored on an ongoing basis to guarantee the community receives safe and high-quality drinking water.
